From the first Coronavirus case in China, through the end of March, Joe Biden (or his handlers) have frequently blamed President Trump for the Coronavirus. The reason for this was twofold: 1. Campaign smearing, trying to cast Trump as negatively as possible before the November election. 2. Deflect blame away from Democrat leaders across the nation.
The blaming is consistently inaccurate. In future history books, these lies by Biden and others will be branded as beginning of the downfall of the Democrat party. (They continue to lie, most recently about whether or not Trump inappropriately “downplayed” the virus.)
Here’s an overview:
Within one week of China admitting to Coronavirus issues, President Trump, the White House, the HHS, and the CDC offered to send help to China. Within a month of the first death in China, Trump began implementing travel bans in the U.S. – which various Democrats, including Joe Biden, publicly admonished as an act of racism. This slander continued through March and beyond.
Once it appeared that the ‘racist’ angle wasn’t working, they tried a new tact. They were looking for a more effective talking point (especially since Fauci and others reported that the travel bans had been a smart move by Trump). Liberals began to attack Trump’s coronavirus response overall by simply lying about his actions and his response.
Below is a timeline through the end of March:
–December 31, 2019 – China discloses their Coronavirus cases
—January 6, 2020 – U.S. HHS Secretary urges China to be transparent and offers to send CDC experts to China to assist with the response.
–January 11, 2020 – China reports first Coronavirus death.
–January 20, 2019 – First US citizen (who traveled home to Seattle from China on Jan. 15) diagnosed with Coronavirus.
—January 30, 2020 – Director General of the World Health Organization says, “there is no reason for measures that unnecessarily interfere with international travel and trade. WHO doesn’t recommend limiting trade and movement.”
–January 31, 2020 – (11 days later) Trump bans most travel from China because of Coronavirus.
—January 31, 2020 – Biden condemns Trump’s travel ban in a tweet. Followed by multiple tweets from Biden accusing Trump of being ‘xenophobic’ and ‘racist’ relating to the ban.
–February 24, 2020 – Pelosi visits San Francisco’s Chinatown and says, “The city is on top of the situation,” and “everything is fine here.”
—February 7, 2020 – HHS reaffirms offer to send medical experts to China to assist.
–February 19, 2020 – Democrat Primary Debates during which no single candidate mentioned “Coronavirus”, “Covid”, or “virus”.
—February 24, 2020 – Trump requests $2.5B from congress to combat Coronavirus.
—February 26, 2020 – Regular Coronavirus briefings begin.
—February 29, 2020 – Trump bans most travelers from Iran
—March 11, 2020 – Trump bans most travelers from Europe because of Coronavirus.
—March 11, 2020 – Biden criticizes Trump for banning European travelers saying that the ban won’t work to address Coronavirus.
—March 13, 2020 – Trump declares a national emergency two days after Biden’s continued criticisms.
—March 14, 2020 – Trump expands the travel ban to include England and Ireland.
—March 16, 2020 – White House releases social distancing guidelines to the public.
–March 20, 2020 – Fauci reiterates his assessment in an interview (MSNBC) that the travel ban was appropriate and critical, and saved thousands of lives.
—March 27, 2020 – Biden says that Trump made no effort to send experts to China to assist with their response to Coronavirus. (Offered to China on multiple occasions beginning January 6th, by Trump’s HHS.)
—March 27, 2020 – Biden accuses Trump of eliminating key personnel that were in place during the Obama administration to address possible future pandemics. (Biden neglected to disclose that personnel left but that the duties were assigned immediately to other individuals in the Trump administration.)
–March 29, 2020 – Pelosi appears on CNN and accuses the Trump of not acting quickly enough, saying, “his denial at the beginning was deadly.” She added “…as the president fiddles, people are dying.” (The reality is that Trump responded immediately with travel bans, task force meetings, emergency funding for Americans, social distancing guidelines, and multiple offers of help to China. He did all that and also declared a national emergency within 1-6 weeks of the first case in China and at the same time he was fighting the political threat of impeachment. Meanwhile, Biden was in his basement tweeting and Pelosi was prancing through Chinatown saying everything was going to be okay.)
As Americans, we are pretty sensitive to lies. Biden will go down in history (along with his honored colleague Nancy Pelosi) as the turning point in the downfall of the Democrat party. Democrats don’t like being lied to either.
Since then, Biden continues to jab at Trump with lies, in an effort to gain traction on what appears to be a quickly dying presidential campaign:
—June 30, 2020 – Biden at a stump speech, derided the President for his response to the virus as one of inaction, despite the fact that Biden hadn’t appeared in public for the preceding 2+ months.
—August 23, 2020 – Biden tweeted, “President Obama and I established a White House office to prepare our nation for future pandemics. Donald Trump eliminated it — and we’ve been paying the price every single day.” (Trump didn’t eliminate the position. A key staff person left and the duties were transferred to another individual. Furthermore, the Obama administration depleted the national medical supply of respirators during H1N1 in 2009 and neglected to replace them which contributed to lack of inventory when Coronavirus hit.)
—August 24, 2020 – Biden tweeted “The only person responsible for our failed COVID response is Donald Trump.” (Trump did not create the virus. Trump responded as well or better than any other national leader, virtually immediately. There are numerous local politicians who have played the primary role in causing unnecessary deaths and the DOJ recently requested records to that effect from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Michigan.)
—August 26, 2020 – Biden tweeted “I know how to lead this nation through a crisis because I’ve done it before. I won’t waste any time getting this virus under control and building our country back better.” (During Biden’s time as VP, it is unlikely that he had much of a say in how the Obama administration dealt with H1N1, but we do know that the response was not particularly good. Obama did not restrict travel to Mexico, the H1N1 country of origin. The first H1N1 case was in January of 2009, Obama didn’t declare a National Health Emergency until April 29, 2009 and didn’t declare a National Emergency until October, about 10 months after the first case appeared. Interestingly, on the day he declared the National Emergency, he played golf – a double standard criticism frequently levied against Trump any time he steps foot on a course.)
